View of an open, grassy meadow with shrubs and trees, a few wispy clouds in the very blue sky.

Steep Rock's beautiful Macricostas Preserve in the village of New Preston features a viewing platform, several lookout points, and a story walk for the whole family. Started in 2009, the volunteer-powered Judea Garden provides fresh produce for local residents in need. Spend an afternoon strolling the fields and forests of the Macricostas Preserve with land conservation advocates and legislators of the Northwest Hills!

Join CLCC, Greenprint CollaborativeSteep Rock Association, and Weantinoge Heritage Land Trust in visiting this land conservation success story made possible by the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection’s Open Space & Watershed Land Acquisition Program (OSWA) and Urban Green and Community Garden Program - funded by the Community Investment Act - and other state, federal, and local investments.

Enjoy an informal afternoon in the fresh air with state legislators, other elected officials, land trust representatives, and community leaders. These events are free and open to land trust members and others interested in discussing your state, regional, and local conservation priorities and celebrating land conservation success stories around the state.
