Earlier today, thanks to your calls and emails to your legislators, the Environment Committee favorably voted Senate Joint Resolution 36 (SJ36) out of committee. Now the resolution awaits action by the Senate.
Passage of SJ 36 in both chambers would place a Constitutional Amendment question on the ballot in November that, if successful, would ensure that the General Assembly would not be able to require state agencies to sell, transfer, or otherwise dispose of state-owned public lands without the following basic safeguards:
- A public hearing;
- A separate bill focused on a single proposed conveyance; and
- 2/3rds vote by each chamber.
Please take action today!
Please contact your state Senator today, thank them for their continued support for the protection of public lands, and ask that they:
- Contact Senate Leadership and ask that they bring SJ36 to the floor for a vote; and
- Become a co-sponsor of the bill if they haven't already.

Your communications with your legislators are absolutely making a difference. Keep up the great work!
With appreciation -
