Standards and Practices Revisions - Land Trust Participation

The Land Trust Alliance is leading a collaborative process to revise Land Trust Standards and Practices to reflect changes in the legal and operational environment of the land trust community over the past 10 years. This process is also intended to improve overall alignment with the Land Trust Accreditation Program, Terrafirma and the array of services, resources and documents supporting best practices for land trusts.

We invite you to comment on the Discussion Draft. You can provide feedback in the following ways:

  • Ethelo, a new, participatory online platform. This interactive public forum is designed to collect feedback and encourage constructive conversations about the revisions process. You can access the platform at When using the site, you’ll be invited to offer specific comments about each practice and element, rate the importance of each element to the effective operation of a land trust and weigh in on preliminary accreditation indicator elements. The site can be accessed using your Facebook login, your Twitter login or a unique account you create.

All input will be given full consideration. The community participation phase will run through September 15.
