That’s bird for “Thank You Thank You” to the Interreligious Eco-Justice Network and Connecticut Chapter Sierra Club for co-hosting a great bird and hike at Riverside Park in Hartford last weekend.
And “Ca-Caw! Ca-Caw!” to Great Meadows Conservation Trust and the Land Heritage Coalition of Glastonbury, Inc. for joining the fun!
Tim Lewis, President of Great Meadows Land Conservation Trust, and a volunteer for the CT River Paddler’s Trail, shared a new fun fact with us – there’s a new campsite along the river that allows folks to rest when paddling along the stretch in the Hartford area that we were visiting. Here’s an article about the new campsite.
One of the highlights of the outing: a group of juvenile Common Mergansers fishing and playing on a sand bank. And one of the great things about bird and hike outings: groups may start as strangers, but they always leave as friends. Friends with the following species in common on their Merlin Bird ID app:
