Environmental, Preservation/Maintenance, Rivers and Lakes, StewardshipThe Long Island Sound Community Impact Fund (LISCIF) is a competitive grant and technical assistance program for local organizations in the Long Island Sound watershed (New York & Connecticut). It is managed by Restore America’s Estuaries in partnership with the U.S. EPA and the Long Island Sound Partnership. Its goal is to fund projects that align with the Long Island Sound Comprehensive Conservation & Management Plan (CCMP), particularly those related to improving water quality, restoring habitats, building resilience to environmental threats, and engaging communities.
Projects should address one or more of the following themes / priorities:
- Clean Waters and Healthy Watersheds
- Thriving Habitats and Abundant Wildlife
- Sustainable and Resilient Communities
- Informed and Engaged Public
Eligible project types include:
- Quantifiable pollutant prevention or reduction
- Restoration of habitat in important coastal habitat types targeted by the LIS Partnership
- Public engagement, stewardship, education
- Planning and design that set the stage for implementation
- Community-based science, data management / integration
- Projects that enhance community resilience and sustainability
