Program Assistant- Northwest Conservation District, working for the NRCS

The Northwest Conservation District seeks a full-time, grant-funded Program Assistant to provide administrative and technical support for NRCS conservation programs. This 17-month, in-person position is based in Torrington, CT and pays $21.22/hour, adjusted annually. Responsibilities include processing program applications, maintaining customer and contract records, tracking Farm Bill contract status, preparing reports and correspondence, responding to landowner inquiries, supporting outreach efforts, assisting with audits, and helping NRCS staff manage workload and office processes. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative, recordkeeping, communication, and computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn agency-specific software. A valid driver’s license is required.
