Dan Peracchio
Dan Peracchio is the Forest Planner and Forest Legacy Coordinator with DEEP’s Forestry Division. He is the statewide coordinator for the Forest Legacy Program, a partnership between DEEP and USDA Forest Service to conserve environmentally important forests, mostly with conservation easements. He is also responsible for the compiling and updating the Connecticut State Forest Action Plan which analyzes current conditions and trends of Connecticut’s forestland and lays out strategies and action steps to best plan for the future of the forested landscape. He also manages the Forestry Division’s federal grants which provide core funding for forest stewardship, urban and community forestry, fire assistance, and forest health programs as well as competitive grant programs through the USDA Forest Service. Dan has been with DEEP Forestry since 2015 after 14 years with a consulting forestry firm in Connecticut following his graduation from the University of Maine. Dan lives in Coventry, CT with his wife and young son, where he also grew up next to his family’s dairy farm.
