Denise Savageau has worked in the environmental field in Connecticut for over 35 years including 20 years as Conservation Director for the Town of Greenwich, CT and 9 years as the District Manager with Hartford County Soil and Water Conservation District.

She is active at the local, state, and national level on soil and water conservation and is currently chair of the Connecticut River Coastal Conservation District, President of the CT Association of Conservation Districts, and a Board Member for the National Association of Conservation Districts.

She is also chair of the CT Council on Soil and Water Conservation, a state agency, where she recently secured federal funding for watershed planning and GIS mapping to advance source water protection in CT and for mapping of subaqueous soils in Long Island Sound.

She serves on  the EPA Long Island Sound Study Citizens Advisory Committee, the Connecticut State Water Plan Implementation Workgroup, the CT Water Planning Council Advisory Group, and the NRCS State Technical Committee.
