Keila Silva

Keila Silva is a sixteen year old climate activist who is dedicated towards the fight for environmental justice. After witnessing the disasters that Latino countries face, Keila was inspired to help her community in anyway possible. As a result, Keila was drawn to the environmental justice movement. She felt inspired seeing her own community at the forefront of decision making, and wanted to be able to do this herself. Through a partnership with the University of Connecticut’s Natural Resources and Conservation Academy, along with CT DEEP, Keila has been able to make great strides in her community by addressing environmental injustices that exclude marginalized communities within her home town. Keila has also made great strides uniting youth from diverse backgrounds across Connecticut and Massachusetts in order to provide students with climate education and literacy which they can take back into their communities to create change.
