“I dreamed that this would happen, but I didn’t see how. I’m so thankful for CFT’s help in making my dream come true,” said Nancy Strong. After five years of hard work and a commitment of personal funds, seven passionate people joined forces with the Connecticut Farmland Trust to purchase and protect 51-acres of prime farmland from the Strong Family — a defining centerpiece in the town of Vernon.
With tremendous support from the community (including the Northern CT Land Trust) and grant funding from DEEP, NRCS, and others, ownership of the protected farm was transferred to a nonprofit organization that will continue running educational programs on the land and in the barns…
