B.12 Equitable Governance and Leadership in Land Trusts
This workshop is designed to guide participants through the essential steps to fostering equitable governance and leadership within land trusts. The session will focus on the importance of diversifying boards, staff, and volunteers to reflect the communities served, as well as the critical role of ongoing DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) training in building a more inclusive organizational culture. Participants will gain practical tools and strategies to implement these changes within their organizations. By the end of this workshop, participants will:
- Understand the importance of diversifying leadership within land trusts.
- Learn strategies to recruit and retain board members, staff, and volunteers from underrepresented groups.
- Explore methods for integrating ongoing DEIB training into their organizational culture.
- Begin developing a plan to advance equitable governance and leadership in their land trust.
