C.6 Collaborative Implementation of Connecticut’s Wildlife Action Plan: The Essential Role of Connecticut’s Conservation Community
Connecticut’s Wildlife Action Plan is being revised to serve as a guide to conservation in Connecticut for the next 10 years. The Wildlife Action Plan identifies actions to address threats facing Connecticut’s native fish, wildlife and habitats. Involvement from diverse partners is needed to ensure the 2025 Wildlife Action Plan is robust, action-focused and offers a role for all interested contributors. Connecticut’s land trusts are uniquely positioned to facilitate collaborative conservation across geographies. This workshop will engage Connecticut’s land trusts in group brainstorming about their interests and specific ways to collaborate on implementing actions identified in the Wildlife Action Plan. The organizers will use an interactive format to facilitate discussions among land trusts, Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, the University of Connecticut and others potential collaborators to co-create a pathway towards strategic implementation of land-focused conservation actions to help ensure measurable benefits to conserve Connecticut’s native fish and wildlife and their habitats.
