D.3 What Works and What Doesn’t: Three Years into Knotweed Wars

Room: TBD
Intro Level, Intermediate Level, Advanced Level

In 2021 Groton Open Space Association, an all-volunteer land trust in the southeast corner of CT, acquired a property known as Sheep Farm South The entrance to the property, at a prominent corner in town, was overgrown with approximately 2 acres of mature knotweed. While not ready to declare glorious victory, after three years of experimentation with various eradication techniques, (including ones not generally recommended), we have lessons to share on what’s worked and what hasn’t.
