Experience a day of guided birding at the picturesque Steep Rock Macricostas Preserve in Washington, CT! This event is open to all residents of Waterbury and the surrounding areas. Our Bird and Hike with CT Land Trusts program is designed to engage communities of color and other underserved groups, offering them the chance to enjoy guided birding and hiking on land trust properties. This initiative aims to foster a deep, lifelong connection with nature, promoting a sense of belonging and comfort in outdoor spaces. Join the CLCC and Steep Rock Association for a free guided bird hike on Saturday, September 14th. Discover the rich birdlife of Steep Rock alongside our expert guides, and build connections with fellow community members in the great outdoors.

Open to all residents of Waterbury and surrounding towns.

Attendees can expect:

• Free transportation from Waterbury: We’ll provide a bus ride to and from the preserve, departing from 359 Mill Street, Waterbury at 9:00 AM and returning by 2:00 PM
• Free parking at Macricostas Preserve – 124 Christian Street, New Preston, CT
• Bird Hike and Free Lunch: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

• Please RSVP for headcount and food allergies.
• This event is open to all ages.
• We are offering free transportation in Waterbury.
