Planning for the Future of Your Land: An Introduction to Land Conservation and Estate Planning

Are you a landowner with an interest in better management and conservation of your family lands but don’t know where to start?

The Last Green Valley is organizing a three-part webinar series co-sponsored by Avalonia Land Conservancy, CT DEEP, CLCC, Eastern CT Conservation District, ECFLA/Wolf Den Land Trust, Joshua’s Trust, Naturally Natchaug, New England Forestry Foundation, Opacum Land Trust, Wyndham Land Trust and Yale Forests.

  1. Where to Start?

    Thursday, February 26, 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm:

    In this session, presenters will talk about setting goals for your land and starting conversations with family members and heirs.

  2. What You Can Do Right Now

    Thursday, March 26, 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

    In this session, presenters will talk about saving on property taxes, available funding programs, and how working with a forester can benefit your land.

  3. Conservation-Based Estate Planning

    Thursday, April 23, 6:30 – 8:00 pm

    In this session, presenters including CLCC’s Amy Blaymore Paterson will talk about what makes your land special and the mechanics of a conservation transaction, including finding the right legal tool and land trust partner.
