The Urban Green & Community Gardens Grant Program (UGCG) is a subset of DEEP’s Open Space and Watershed Land Acquisition (OSWA) program, tailored to support the development, enhancement, or restoration of urban green spaces and community gardens. Projects eligible for funding include green infrastructure (rain gardens, bioswales), native plantings, walking paths, and community gardens. The program targets municipalities and registered nonprofits operating in Distressed Municipalities, Targeted Investment Communities, or Environmental Justice Communities. Grants operate as a 50/50 reimbursement match, meaning applicants must initially cover 100% of the costs and then submit for 50% reimbursement.
