Advocates for Land Protection and Stewardship Program

Overview

The Advocates for Land Protection and Stewardship Program (ALPS) enlists the assistance of one or more representatives (a board member, staff person, etc.) of each Connecticut land trust to serve as a point of contact (aka the “ ALPS Captain”) during the legislative session.

The role of the ALPS Captain is to ensure that CLCC’s calls to action and other policy updates are disseminated to land trust’s membership and broader community. ALPS aims to engage as many land trust members as possible in advocating for land conservation, especially amidst evolving environmental challenges.

Advocates for Land Protection and Stewardship January Meeting

In January 2024, CLCC hosted our monthly ALPS meeting for those interested in getting involved in Connecticut conservation policy.

This meeting was held in anticipation for the upcoming legislative session, which started on Jan. 8. It covered two topics:

  • Can my Land Trust Lobby
  • Legislative Session Primer

We host monthly meetings so please feel free to join to get updates on meetings when they happen!
