Eric Hammerling is Director of the Office of Environmental Review & Strategic Initiatives (ERSI) located in the Commissioner’s office at the CT Department of Energy & Environmental Protection. Previously he served for 15 years (2008 – 2023) as Executive Director of the Connecticut Forest & Park Association where he was an early supporter of CLCC’s mission and fiscal sponsor of CLCC before it was officially incorporated as an independent non-profit.

At DEEP, Eric supervises environmental reviews of state actions under the CT Environmental Policy Act (CEPA) and works on special projects like a study on the future of Batterson Park. Eric is CLCC’s Board Secretary where he has served since 2017
