Sue Cope

Simsbury

Director since 2023, expires 2026

Sue joined the CLCC board in 2023.

Born and raised in Connecticut’s Farmington Valley, Sue has spent her life learning and working on how to be a better steward of our land and water resources. Currently, she is the Air Program Manager for the CT National Guard where she helps our state military department operate in a more environmentally conscious way. She also is the owner/operator of a land conservation consulting business called “Save CT Land, LLC” that aims to provide in-depth and professional assistance to local land trusts and other conservation-type groups. Previously, Sue was the Environmental Director of the Lyme Land Trust in Lyme, CT. There she spent seven years building and establishing land conservation plans and notable rapport with town committees, landowners, farmers, and the general public – of which she is most proud. She also established the Lyme Pollinator Pathway and served on the board of Lyme’s Conservation Commission. Now back in central CT, Sue is working to become more involved with the very essential conservation of the Farmington River Valley.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Management from UConn and her master’s degree in Environmental Communications from Ball State University. A renaissance woman, she is also a Registered Nurse, and a UConn Master Gardener – emanating her desire to care for both people and plants. She currently lives in Simsbury with her partner, two boys, and two dogs.
