Connecticut Farmland Loss: What’s at Stake and What We Can Do About It

Intro Level, Intermediate Level, Advanced Level

Farms are the heart of our communities, contribute to local food security, and make us more resilient in the face of climate change. American Farmland Trust’s Farms Under Threat 2040 study forecasts a conversion of at least 16% of the state’s farmland (55,000 acres) by 2040, and new ground-truthing analysis indicates we are converting farmland faster than projected. Come learn about what type of farmland is getting converted and where conversion is taking place. Hear insights and reflections about farmland protection and land use planning tools and innovations to inform what Connecticut land trusts, planners, communities, and partners can do.
