Mapping Pollinator Corridors: GIS Tools for Land Trusts and Municipal Planners
Urbanization and habitat fragmentation have disrupted the continuity of Connecticut’s natural landscapes, limiting the movement of pollinators and other wildlife. This session introduces an interactive Geoprocessing Information Systems (GIS) toolbox and online hub designed for conservation practitioners with little or no GIS experience. The toolbox translates complex spatial data into clear, mappable opportunities for habitat restoration across roadsides, farms, land trusts, municipalities, and community-scale applications. Participants will learn how to access and use these free, regionally tailored tools to identify high-suitability habitats, evaluate restoration potential and connectivity, and guide local restoration, land-use planning, and stewardship decisions.
