Join us for a field visit to Great Mountain Forest to see firsthand how CLCC’s Climate Smart Land Stewardship Grant Program is supporting innovative forest management and climate adaptation strategies.

Natural Resource Manager Kate Regan Loomis will guide us through recently treated stands where thinning has enhanced forest structure, encouraged oak regeneration, and increased understory growth, improving both diversity and resilience. We’ll also tour project areas where Japanese barberry is being controlled to open space for future plantings of native species anticipated to thrive under changing climate conditions.

This visit offers land trust staff and volunteers an opportunity to learn about practical, on-the-ground approaches to building healthier, more resilient forests.

The tour will begin at the Great Mountain Forest’s West Gate, located at 200 Canaan Mountain Road in Falls Village, CT.
