Stewardship Strategies for Climate and Community: Day 2 of 2

October 18   |   9:00 am - 1:30 pm

CT Land Conservation Council (CLCC) in collaboration with the South Central Regional Land Conservation Alliance (SCRLCA), is offering this educational program to explore ways to build regional climate resilience, stewardship for enhancing water quality, and equitable impacts of conservation. This program centers around guided site visits, and facilitated discussions to encourage knowledge exchange and strengthen partnerships between land trusts in the region.

These guided tours will be held at four sites over two days and led by local organization hosts. Each site will explore slightly different topics unique to their goals and challenges as they relate to our program themes. This is a unique opportunity to engage with experts and regional partners, as well as consider project ideas and collaborations for the future. Lunch will be provided.

Day 2 of 2

Date: Friday, October 18th

Time: 9:00 am – 1:30 pm

Sites 1: Regional Water Authority Site in Prospect: Guided by two RWA foresters, this site will demonstrate various methods and benefits of active forest management on watershed quality, and building climate resilience. This site will offer opportunities to brainstorm strategies for smaller forested parcels, while discussing the role of larger regional conservation partners.

Site 2: Lock 12 Historical Park with Cheshire Pollinator Pathway: Lock 12 is a multi-use site, hosting a museum of Farmington Canal history, the only remaining lock of what was the Farmington Canal, a prolific Pollinator Garden, and a stretch of the of the Farmington Canal Rail Trail.

Please feel free to join us for one or both days. We encourage you to share this event with your board members and devoted stewardship volunteers who may be interested.
