Assistant Land Steward, Summer 2023 – Sharon Land Trust

The Sharon Land Trust is seeking part-time Assistant Land Stewards for the 2023 field work season. This person or persons will assist the Stewardship Director in their day-to-day operations and work projects, learn about conservation and land management, and help protect our natural landscape and local wildlife. This role could start as early as May and run as late as September, depending on the candidate’s schedule. Hours are roughly 5 days a week, 3 to 6 hours per day. Some weekend work is required. Pay is between $16 and $20/hour. Prior work experience is preferred, but not required.

Typical work includes:
Field-based work including trail building and maintenance, land management, property and project monitoring, installation and maintenance of signage and upkeep of public trails.
Working with volunteer groups, as needed.
Care and maintenance of tools and equipment.
Coordination and communication with the SLT staff, the board, and the public.
Computer work, including research, mapping and social media.

This person will be supervised by the Stewardship Director, but they must be motivated and capable of working independently.

Requirements:
At least 18 years of age.
Reliable personal transportation is required.
Comfortable being outdoors, sometimes in remote locations, in all weather.
Capable of handling manual labor, hiking, and carrying a heavy pack.
Passion for the environment and the outdoors.
Reliable, punctual, organized, with good communication skills and a willingness to learn.
