As a member of the Conservation Programs team, the Forestry Technician will implement prescribed management strategies within Mohonk Preserve’s forested landscape such as conducting forestry activities including, but not limited to, mechanical invasive species removal, tree marking, felling and planting. The Technician will also assist with data collection relative to forest health, deer browse impacts and silvicultural treatment efficacy in the hemlock-northern hardwood and chestnut oak forest types at the Preserve. The position is supervised by the Applied Forest Ecologist and requires working closely with other Conservation Programs and Mohonk Preserve staff. This hourly, grant-funded position runs for approximately 40 weeks, between September 2023 and July 2024, for a maximum of 1,000 hours. $20/hour; 30-40 hours/week
