Napatree Naturalist – The Watch Hill Conservancy
The Napatree Point Conservation Area (NTPCA) is 86 pristine acres of some of the rarest habitats in Rhode Island. The Conservation Area is managed by The Watch Hill Conservancy and The Watch Hill Fire District. NTPCA is a community resource, open to the public year-round. NTPCA is designated as a “Globally Important Bird Area” by the National Audubon Society and a Climate Response Demonstration Site by the University of Rhode Island Coastal Institute. It is home to many species of federally and state-listed endangered species.
Napatree Naturalists assist in the stewardship and management of the NTPCA by protecting wildlife and habitats, ensuring that visitors comply with posted guidelines, educating visitors of the local natural history, and assisting in scientific data collection to support monitoring programs. Napatree Naturalists are employees of The Watch Hill Conservancy and report directly to the Napatree Point Conservation Area Manager.
The Napatree Naturalist position is a seasonal, part-time position at 15 – 20 hours per week. Naturalists must work at least one 5.5-hour weekend shift per week. Additional hours may be available for assisting with special programs and stewardship work. Compensation is $22.50 per hour.
