Understanding and Explaining the Tax Benefits for Conservation Donations
Participants will gain a basic understanding of the tax benefits associated with fee simple and conservation easement donations and the requirements that must be met to qualify for them. Topics covered will include federal income tax deductions, estate tax benefits, and property tax implications. We will also cover tips for explaining these benefits to landowners in way they will understand without giving them specific tax advice. Finally, we will discuss best practices to protect the land trust, follow Land Trust Alliance Standards & Practices, and comply with relevant regulatory and legal requirements.
