The Cornwall Conservation Trust’s Ballyhack Preserve is home to the second tallest white pine in Connecticut, recorded at 149 feet tall and 153 inches in circumference.

Writes Hartford Courant columnist Peter Marteka, “Hiking Ballyhack will spin you around. It will give you whiplash as you crane your neck around to look up at the tops of the giants — the high branches filled with green needles mixing in with the sun and deep blue of a spring day.”
