CLCC Blog Post –

I stand here with a heavy heart!  The Connecticut Technical Education and Career System Board has decided to eliminate the A.I. Prince Technical High School Bioscience and Environmental Class.

Over the last three years, these students have been instrumental in assisting DEEP’s Environmental Justice Program (the Friends of Keney Park and the City of Hartford) in cleanup projects, stocking thousands of fish in Hartford’s Keney Park Pond, performing tree inventory and water quality monitoring.  This partnership has provided accessibility to green spaces, outdoor hands-on experiences, and career development guidance.

The CTECS based their decision on the lack of students pursuing environmental careers.  How can they have any data to support this when the first graduation class has not completed college?

I am writing my legislators because I refuse to allow this to happen without a fight!

Thanks, and please join me,
