Governor Announces Open Space & Community Garden/Urban Green Grant Awards and Launches next Grant Round

Governor Lamont today announced the release of $7.29 million in state funds to purchase and protect 1,013 acres of open space in 17 Connecticut communities, and $276,200 to restore and renew green spaces in 6 urban areas through the Open Space & Watershed Land Acquisition and Urban Green and Community Garden Grant Programs, respectively.

The Governor’s press release also announced the opening of new grant rounds for both programs, with applications due by September 30, 2022.

The CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is accepting applications from municipalities, land trusts, and water companies for the next round of the competitive Open Space and Watershed Land Acquisition Grant Program (OSWA).

Federal Open Space Matching Fund Grant Program

Please join CLCC and USDA-Natural Resource Conservation Service (USDA-NRCS) on June 21 from 12pm – 1:30pm or on June 23 from 6:30pm – 8pm to learn about the Connecticut Conservation Partnership Program – a new partnership program by which land trust applicants to OSWA may apply for a federal grant through CLCC as a source of match funds.
