Marvelwood School/Kent Land Trust

Irine Dumitrascu is a junior at the Marvelwood School and began working as an intern for the Kent Land Trust last year, and is passionate about working with birds. During weekly community service days, she visits the local K-8 school where she helps the students work on various art projects. Irine is working on bridging her conservation and artistic interests, hoping to follow a more creative career path while still contributing to the preservation of bird species. Irine has been on the Marvelwood Envirothon team for the past three years and was a member of the team that placed second in the state in 2022. Irine is among four Marvelwood students who have been collaborating with Texas Tech University on a fine-scale microclimate study focusing on the assessment of different Purple Martin artificial housing types and its influence on nest survival.
