Workshops
Leveraging New Bird Conservation Technologies for Land Trusts and Beyond!
In this workshop, you will learn about useful technologies for bird conservation data collection and using your data for storytelling and public engagement. We will introduce you to the exciting opportunities the Motus Wildlife Tracking System (motus.org) offers for bird conservation and storytelling. We will provide an overview of how Acoustic Recording Units (ARUs) are being used to monitor birds and influence conservation outcomes. Additionally, we will discuss how community science platforms like Merlin, eBird, and Birdcast, all tools of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, can play an important role in how land trusts and beyond capture and share stories about the data they collect. We will end with examples of ways to engage your public with storytelling and programs.
