The Aspetuck Land TrustConnecticut Land Conservation Council, and the Sierra Club of CT hosted a BlackAFinSTEM Collective Bird Walk at Ash Creek in Bridgeport. The BlackAFinSTEM Collective seeks to uplift African American STEM professionals in natural resources and the environment through professional development and community engagement. Black Birders Week began in 2020 to highlight African American naturalists and birders and to open the discussion of place in the natural world. CLCC’s Senior Project Specialist Yaw Owusu Darko led participants to explore Ash Creek, Capozzi Park, and the many birds in the area like snowy egrets, killdeers, robins, and more…
