Development for Conservation

David Allen is a non-profit fund development consultant who works almost exclusively with land trusts and other conservation organizations. Under the business name Development for Conservation, David works with nonprofit conservation boards to help their members advance as leaders and advocates.

David’s background includes 30 years in membership fundraising, major gift development, capital campaigns, and marketing. He worked about half that time for Nature Conservancy (TNC) chapters in Oregon, Texas, and Wisconsin and served TNC nationally as an internal fundraising consultant and major gift development trainer. And in 2009, he launched Development for Conservation full-time. Also in 2009, David partnered with Nancy Moore to form Conservation Consulting Group. Together they work with land trusts on Strategic Planning, board development and training, and governance.

David is a strategic thinker, problem solver, facilitator, educator, and program developer who brings a particular passion for conservation and the environment. David has worked with more than 150 conservation organizations across the country and is currently consulting with land trusts in seven states. David is a skilled teacher and a frequent presenter at conservation conferences, including the CLCC Conference.
